This option of the RYA scheme and is suitable if you prefer a flexible learning programme. You can study this at your pace in the comfort of your own home. The delivery of this is via training modules and although it can be done either on line or offline (once the course is downloaded) you will need to be on line at the start of the modules in order for us to track your progress. Full details will be provided. There are a number of questions and quizzes to check your understanding and a Pre-exam Knowledge Check once the modules are completed. When you have passed this check you can download your course certificate to take with you when you attend the final face to face exam with us here in Lanzarote or at any recognised school. (Please note that if you do not use the same school for both aspects there is a very high likelihood of being charged an admin fee - this will vary) It is strongly advised that you try a taste of this course to make sure you are happy with the method of delivery and that your device is compatible before you buy it.
Standard classroom delivery
One day 09.00 - 18.00
This includes full instructor tuition for theory and practice sessions on training radios and independent assessment upon completion – theory and practical. The day provides you with all you need to know to operate the marine radio competently and confidently.
With both options you need to undertake some pre-study – around 3 hours and we supply the RYA VHF Handbook and application form as part of the fee. In both cases the training is done by one form of tuition and the assessment overseen by another assessor.
This means that our courses are satisfying the European legislation – CEPT (The European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations) regulations which mean your highly valued licence is recognised.
The licence is required by law for anyone owning or using a marine radio. Age for certificate is 16 (under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult to the classroom study)
Course fee £135 plus £60 for the face to face assessment and RYA issued licence.
